Eero Venäläinen

Eero Venäläinen has been the Head of the Helsinki EU Office since the Spring 2021. He is responsible for the operations of the office and especially for communication with the Regional Councils of Kymenlaakso and Päijäthäme, and Helsinki-Uusimaa Regional Council. In addition to this, he works as the Head of EU and International Affairs in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Regional Council.

Eero Venäläinen has worked for a long time in various regional development roles in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Regional Council, e.g., as a project manager, international affairs manager, development manager, and deputy regional development manager. He has also been the Head of EU and International Affairs at Helsinki-Uusimaa Regional Council since 2014. Before this, he worked at the University of Eastern Finland, North Karelia University of Applied Sciences, North Karelia Vocational Adult Education Center, and North Karelia Rural Center in various project and development roles.
