Krista Taipale

Director of Helsinki EU Office Krista Taipale is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership and management of Helsinki EU Office. She is also responsible for the European Union’s regional and urban politics particularly concerning smart specialization and innovation ecosystems. Krista Taipale is a member of the management board of the European Regions Research and Innovation Network (ERRIN) and also a leader of the ERRIN Working Group of Smart Specialization.

Krista Taipale has over 20 years of work experience related to the EU, EU Advocacy as well as international and cross-cultural communication. Earlier, she has been representing the international interests of AKAVA Confederation of Unions for Professional and Managerial Staff in Finland, Innovation Centre of the University of Technology and managing the Turku-Southwest Finland European Office in Brussels.

Krista Taipale has graduated as a Master of Social Science (International relations, University of Tampere and International law, University of Helsinki). She has also studied Economics and Business Marketing at Hanken School of Economics and participated in multiple international communications, management and leadership trainings.
