The Regional Council of Päijät-Häme

Päijät-Häme is an appealing region that is both gaining renewed vitality and pioneering environmental expertise and green transition. The Regional Council of Päijät-Häme is responsible for the region’s strategy work, area planning, regional development, funding, and safeguarding of the region’s interests both within Finland and internationally.

The Regional Council of Päijät-Häme promote the interests of the area’s residents, businesses, universities, and municipalities. Together, they seek sustainable solutions for global environmental challenges and encourage the development of bold, creative RDI solutions. 

The region encompasses a cluster of 10 municipalities that boast diverse cultural and sports facilities and pure nature and water. 

The highest decision-making power in the Regional Council of Päijät-Häme is exercised by the Regional Assembly, whose members are councillors elected by the member municipalities. The Regional Board, elected by that assembly, oversees practical operations.
