Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) is a research and consultancy organization that develops knowledge-based solution models and services for its customers and added value for sustainable and competitive business activities based on renewable natural resources, and supports decision making in the society.
Luke’s strategic objectives are to generate new bio-based products and new business activities, productivity through digital solutions, vitality of regions through the circular economy, wellbeing from immaterial values, healthy and profitable food production. Our research priorities are boreal green bioeconomy, innovative food chain, blue bioeconomy, and sustainable natural resources economy in society.
Luke was launched January 1, 2015 as a merger of the Finnish Forest Research Institute, MTT Agrifood Research Finland, the Finnish Game and Fisheries Research Institute and the statistical services of the Information Centre of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Natural Resources Institute Finland is the second largest research institute in Finland and one of the biggest clusters of bioeconomy expertise in Europe.
